Real Progress!

A very productive couple of weeks!

New Light in the laundry area, how did they do laundry in the dark?
and hallway up and down.

Master Bath has flooring ... (and a comfort height toilet ... in next edition!)

Half Bath ... some transformation from Avocado, and that hideous tile, what WERE they thinking?!
And how about that nice, neat plumbing job!?!

Big day last week with the delivery of the major appliances for the Kitchen!
Not the friendliest of all delivery guys ... and clearly they should not be switching Fridge doors, or any other task for that matter.

Of course, as all things go, after getting 94% of the microwave install complete:
HOLD THE BOAT!

holes drilled, power run, mounting plate up, we find that the microwave clearly had been DROPPED in the box ... the whole front was catty-wampus! Meaning we had to wait for another to be sent ...
good news, only took another three days.

Cabinets in CHECK
Countertops mounted and ends finished ... CHECK

Dishwasher in CHECK

Looking more and more like a real kitchen every day!

Moving Forward ... transformation!

Painting downstairs is complete ... thank goodness. Behr and Killz is in our veins!
Now to some exciting finishes!

CABINETS!

So, as you may recall, the existing cabinets were, well, disposable.
The new ones, flat in a box, arrive in 13 boxes and various miscellaneous pieces.
Here goes the transformation of the kitchen!

Voila, almost a kitchen!

Next comes the FLOORING!

Will post updates on the installation!

Groundhog day(s) ...

Painting ... well, we knew based on the multitude of colors in the house this wouldn't be a fun time ...
well, the fun-ness never ends. literally.
For almost two weeks, all we did was PAINT ... and this is just the UPSTAIRS.
first, prime the ceilings, from which we removed the popcorn ceiling.
then first coat prime the walls ... four bedrooms, master bath, master closet and hallway ...

Remember the blue room?
Remember the lovely rust master bath ...
Trim done upstairs ...

In the end: Three (3) coats of Killz2 primer and two (2) coats of Behr ProX paint ... to cover the mess.

Flooring ... faux wood ... more demo

Note the charming Dance-Floor in the center of the room!
Yes, it's different flooring color
Master & Small bedroom two different kinds of faux wood floor ...
get ready for the FLOOR TOSS!

Right out the Second Floor Windows ....

Load 1 of 2 ... to the Household Waste & Recycling Center

Buh Bye Popcorn ...

Ahh, Goodbye popcorn ceiling! Begone with you!

See the buckets ... lots of buckets of evil Popcorn!

The awesome-ness of the removed popcorn ceiling is but a  moment of joy
until you look at the
Scary BLUE wall!
A real mess.

This is popcorn ceiling ... it is evil and it is gone.

 Now ...
... remove all remnants of the Cantina that the house held ...

ALSO, all flooring on the first floor, BE GONE!
THREE different ceramic floor tiles, two in this spot, plus the faux-wood flooring that, for some reason, had a "dance floor" in the center of the room with a different flooring ... in a rectangle. Ole!

The kitchen was stripped ... no stove or fridge in the house ...
so the cabinets out, sink, countertops and all plumbing, all go.
how rustic...

the "L shaped"  1/2 bath on the first floor, also gutted ...
Lovely Green, yes?

in the attic the duct-work supports were gone, so wooden braces went up to re-secure them.

had an HVAC guy in to look at the
heat pump unit and see if it's in working order ...  yes, it blows, in a good way.
